Trump Loses Popular Vote

Surprisingly, Trump won the Electoral vote by a landslide and lost the popular vote by .5% or ~240,000 votes.

This marks the 4th time a president has been elected without the popular vote: John Quincy Adams, Rutherford B. Hayes, George Harrison and George W. Bush. This is the second republican to lose the popular vote in just 17 years. We're a Representative democracy where we elect ppl to make our decision not a 100% democracy like ancient Greece where all citizens would meet at the town square and vote on every decision. Although a 100% vote could be possible with digital technology... imagine if every citizen got a text/email every few hours w a link on infortmation and voted on a decision? Sadly few would do it.

Anyways, it's not entirely shocking the media were off about Trump's popularity. Smaller newspapers have folded and the media centers, for news and entertainment, are now based in large cities which tend to be liberal: many thought Trump's remarks lost him the public. That there was a strong rural showing isn't so surprising as the fact the Electoral College picked Trump despite the fact many of his party dropped their endorsement and political pundits overwhelmingly predicted a loss.
