What most people forget is the US owns all its Servers. They can not only 'crack' their code (that's what the NSA does) but also can physically confiscate them. All your servers are belong to US, lol.

In the first place if a crime were committed, Apple should allow access to the data. In the second place, it doesn't even matter because the NSA can access it anyways. Nothing on the webz or your devices is truly private or non-accessible. NOTHING. It's all a permanent record. Even TOR, the amazing encryption system was recently hacked by the FBI.

What this comes down to is a public show. Apple wants to once again be seen as a defender of privacy, a rebel, and you should buy their machines.

I'll stick to Microsoft, thanks.
